Human Resources Assistant (part time)
General Description:
The part-time Human Resources Assistant is responsible for typical office assistance in a fast-paced office environment. Specific functions include supporting: recruiting, orientation, training, benefit administration, salary and separation duties. The successful candidate must absolutely maintain a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail/accuracy.

A sampling of duties and responsibilities include:
- Assign adjunct faculty to courses in Graduate and Online programs, consulting Deans and Program Managers as necessary.
- Utilize the University system for effective cohort and adjunct management.
- Provide student services support for Graduate and Online programs, including but not limited to: instructor contact information; access to university forms; procedures for obtaining instructional manuals; and procedures for addressing technology issues.
- Provide general administrative support such as preparing correspondence, forms and reports, arranging meetings, composing regular correspondence, processing confidential reports and documents, filing electronic and hard copy, tracking deadlines, and taking down minutes as needed.
- Prepare new hire paperwork. Track, enter and maintain employee information in the University database.
- Prepare documentation needed for new hires, or effective changes in pay, status, or benefits. Maintain employee file records up-to-date by handling changes in employee status in timely manner.
- Receive and address questions from students, faculty, and staff consulting other university personnel.
- Coordinating employee training events or programs and recommending resources, as needed.
- Assist with benefit open enrollment, answer basic questions, and assist in solving issues.
- Administer driving and criminal record checks.
- File maintenance
- Prepare tutorial payments
- Prepare purchase orders
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or related work experience.
- Prior successful work experience in a customer service oriented setting.
- Previous HR experience is helpful as is experience in a higher education setting. Experience working with adult learners and/or experience as an adult learner is a plus.
- Good oral and written communication skills; advanced interpersonal skills; and strong organizational, decision-making and collaboration skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products with a solid computer skills ability.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Must be confidential and have a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to crouch, kneel, bend or stand for long periods.
- Ability to speak and read English fluently.
- Ability to hear.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Core work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; specific work hours will be discussed during the interview process. Full host of outstanding benefits.
