Speech and Debate Sponsor

Position Title: Speech and Debate Sponsor
Reports To: High School Principal
Work Hours: Per MSHSAA season
Contract Days: School Years Funding Source: Local

Job Responsibilities:
1. Following MSHSAA rules and regulations
2. Take the MSHSAA rules and regulations online sponsor’s / coach’s test
3. Form a speech and debate team
4. Holding monthly meetings before or after school
5. Obtaining speech materials
6. Practicing and critiquing speeches
7. Guiding and teaching research techniques
8. Arranging and attending speech meets with students. (Minimum of 6 per year)
9. Attend district and state competitions when students qualify
10. Maintain stats and records
11. Develop awards for team members.
12. Set budget and monitor finances to ensure positive balance by end of school year.
13. Performs any other duties and activities deemed appropriate by the principal.
14. Complies with and supports all school district regulations and policies.
15. Pass all MSHSAA required tests.
16. Submit list of all award winners for season to AD.
17. Provide updated inventory before teacher checkout.
