Position Overview
The Small Business Liaison is a full-time role within the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, reporting directly to the CEO. This position serves as a trusted resource for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in Callaway County, providing hands-on coaching, counseling, educational support, and guidance on business planning. By fostering connections, championing local business needs, and supporting problem-solving, this role plays a critical part in cultivating a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem and promoting the long-term success of small businesses in the county.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct business retention visits to support all small businesses in Callaway County.
  • Identify and coordinate educational opportunities for entrepreneurs.
  • Facilitate networking, marketing, and problem-solving opportunities for entrepreneurial-minded individuals.
  • Provide business coaching, including counseling and succession planning.
  • Promote, coordinate, and manage the Annual Show-Me Innovation Pitch Competition (Adult, Collegiate, and Teen divisions).
  • Promote, coordinate, and provide training for the Local Lemon youth entrepreneurship program.
  • Research and implement innovative business development programs for entrepreneurs.
  • Collaborate with Callaway County schools to promote entrepreneurship education.
  • Share and highlight the stories of the local entrepreneurial community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations, including the Missouri Women’s Business Center, Small Business Administration, and SBDC.
  • Complete monthly reporting for the SBDC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Chamber programs and initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, entrepreneurship, economic development, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in business coaching or small business development will also be considered.
  • Ability to create a welcoming and professional environment for clients.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Highly organized with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
