Groundbreaking Ceremony Announced for Bridge Removal Project

Groundbreaking Ceremony Announced for Bridge Removal Project
Kingdom City, Missouri, June 11, 2025 — Kingdom City, in partnership with the Missouri Department
of Transportation (MoDOT), Millstone Weber, Mike Williams and local landowners, will host a
groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, June 18 at 10:00 a.m. to mark the beginning of a
transformative infrastructure project: the removal of the low-clearance railroad bridge over Old U.S.
Route 40, between Baynum Avenue and Highway 54. The public is invited to attend.

The ceremony will be held near 5500 Old Highway 40, Kingdom City, MO 65262, with parking
available on site. In the event of rain, the ceremony will move to City Hall, located at 5584 Dunn
Drive, Kingdom City, MO, 65262.

The bridge, originally constructed for railroad use, currently has a clearance of just 13 feet 1 inch,
creating a significant restriction for commercial trucks, large agricultural equipment, and other
oversized vehicles. Its removal will eliminate this long-standing bottleneck, enhance safety, and
improve traffic flow throughout the area.

“This project represents a major step forward for Kingdom City,” said Larry Doyle, City Manager of
Kingdom City. “Not only will it improve transportation access and safety for our community, but it
will also open up critical land for future expansion and development. We’re proud to lead this e􀆯ort
in collaboration with MoDOT, Millstone Weber, Mike Williams and our local landowners.”
The project, managed by Millstone Weber, is jointly funded by Kingdom City, MoDOT, and
participating landowners. Removing the bridge will allow for an open, unobstructed roadway better
suited to the needs of modern transportation, agriculture, and commerce.
