Assistant.- Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems
General Description:
William Woods University is accepting applications for one full-time, tenure-track faculty position to teach computer information systems (CIS) and related courses to undergraduate students. Teaching areas may include hardware/software support, the impact of artificial intelligence, machine learning fundamentals, human-computer interaction, business analytics, Python, programming logic and syntax, emerging technologies, and other related courses. The contracted teaching load is 12 hours per semester, with the opportunity to teach summer and intercession courses.Full-time faculty are expected to participate in faculty and campus committees, attend faculty assemblies and school meetings, and conduct program and class assessments in accordance with standards developed by the University and outside accrediting entities. Faculty are also expected to develop educational programs to be presented to the campus at large as part of the University LEAD program and to attend such programs sponsored by other faculty in the university.
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach computer information systems and other relevant coursework in the classroom and online modalities.
- Assist students with academic advising.
- Assist in internship supervision, including identifying opportunities, mentoring, and evaluating computer information systems internships.
- Prepare course syllabi for assigned courses that meet the needs of students and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in the development of assessments and evaluation of courses and the program for continuing improvement.
- Maintain professional development according to personal and professional needs.
- Develop strategies to create collaborative partnerships that enhance student experiences.
- Assist in recruitment efforts for the program by participating in university recruitment events and communicating with interested students.
- Responsible for maintaining relationships with alumni of the program.
- Assist with program external accreditation reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- A master's degree in computer information systems or a directly related discipline (with at least 18 graduate credit hours in computer information systems) is required.
- A doctoral degree in computer information systems or a related discipline is desired but not required. ABDs with a documented completion date may be considered.
- Experience with at least one programming language and programming logic (Python preferred)
- Ability to perform teaching, administrative, and clerical duties independently to fulfill the program's goals and objectives within the overall mission of the department, the school, and the university.
- Teaching experience at a higher educational institution is preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development, strong work ethic, and a commitment to working well with others.
- Work within an online modality and develop course curricula.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with integrating instructional technology.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, 9-month position, which may begin as soon as fall of 2024 and will continue into the following academic year. This position will be open until filled.
