CNC Machinist
Full job description
General Description
Operating both manual and CNC machine tools, using precision measuring instruments, reading blueprints, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, engaging in daily housekeeping activities, and otherwise maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Machining certificate or minimum one (1) year production machining experience is preferred. Forklift experience is preferred.
Specialized knowledge and skills
- Must possess proficient technical knowledge and manual dexterity.
- Intermediate math and reading skills are required.
- Able to read micrometers, calipers, tape measure, and blueprints.
- Able to use basic hand and power tools.
- Able to follow instructions and retain information.
- Knowledge of proper metal fabrication and machining techniques is preferred.
- Able to set up and run manual and CNC machines.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Read and comprehend work instructions and blueprints and follow established procedures.
- If necessary, confer with Machining Supervisor to determine and document job requirements.
- Communicate with forklift operator for material needs.
- Gather necessary materials and tools to run job, and position or load material for job.
- Set up machine and adjust settings as needed.
- Measure parts for adherence to quality standards and blueprint compliance.
- Call for Quality Control when product is ready for inspection.
- Run work order and monitor machine, tools, part quality, and log data as required.
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on given task.
- Follow all company and safety policies, guidelines, and rules.
- Follow all quality standards.
- Meet and/or exceed production goals.
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay focused and on task with minimal supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing environment with loud noise level. Facility is enclosed and is ventilated and heated but not air conditioned. Safety-toe footwear, safety eyewear, and hearing protection required. Gloves or other PPE as needed.
Physical Demands
Spends more than three-quarters (3/4) of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands, and reaching. Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and occasionally position heavier material with the aid of lifting device(s). Use stands as a fulcrum to slide and maneuver steel bars and tubes. Lift and move heavy items via overhead crane and forklift. Generally requires clear vision at close distances for reading blueprints, instructions, and precision measuring instruments.
Schedule
Full time. First shift, Monday through Thursday, 5:30 AM - 3:45 PM. Second shift, Monday through Thursday, 3:45 PM - 2:00 AM. Overtime may be required.
Starting wage with experience: $20.50 - $22.00
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
