Fabricator

General Description

Working under the supervision of the Fabricating Supervisor, this position is responsible for operating the CNC laser cutter, plasma, or brake press. Use of precision measuring instruments, blueprint reading, standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, engaging in daily housekeeping activities, and otherwise maintaining a clean and safe work environment is required.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Read and comprehend work instructions, blueprints, and established procedures.

2. Select and set up lenses (and any other consumables) based on material type and thickness, load programs, and set up machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.

3. Understand shield gases used during cutting operation.

4. Perform other duties, such as grinding, de burring, cleaning of parts, and removal of scrap.

5. Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on given task.

6. Understand and utilize all measuring tools.

7. Lift raw materials and final products manually or using a hoist.

8. Communicate with forklift driver for material needs.

9. Follow all company and safety policies, guidelines, and rules.

10. Follow all quality standards.

11. Meet and/or exceed production goals.

12. Work in a fast-paced environment.

13. Stay focused and on task with minimal supervision.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

15. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

16. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications and Skills

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Forklift experience is preferred.

Work Environment

Industrial manufacturing environment with loud noise level. Facility is enclosed and is ventilated and heated but not air conditioned. Safety-toe footwear, safety eyewear, and hearing protection required. Gloves or other PPE as needed.

Physical Demands

Spends more than three-quarters (3/4) of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands, and reaching. Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and occasionally position heavier material with the aid of lifting device(s). Lift and move heavy items via overhead crane and forklift. Generally requires clear vision at close distances for reading blueprints, instructions, and precision measuring instruments.

Schedule

First shift, Monday through Thursday, 5:30 AM - 3:45 PM. Second shift, Monday through Thursday, 3:45 PM - 2:00 AM. Overtime may be required.

Starting wage with experience: $18.00 - $20.00

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
