Rec-Plex Attendant (Part-time)

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is skilled rec-plex attendant will work in the Parks and Recreation Department. An employee in this class is responsible for assisting in a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, including reporting, filing, bookkeeping, data entry, public relations and customer service. This shift will include early morning, evenings, and weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing and submit to periodic drug testing as required by applicable laws.
  • Subject to working a varied schedule including some evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass background check due to the nature of working around young children.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions

  1. Receives and forwards phone calls, takes messages and responds to requests for general information assuring for politeness, confidentiality and professionalism.
  2. Greets visitors; answers questions; provides handouts and information; registers individuals, accepts fees for classes and programs, and provides receipts; issues permits/policies; directs visitors to the appropriate personnel and responds to requests for general information assuring for politeness, confidentiality, accuracy and professionalism.
  3. Maintains the department’s computer system relating to the reservation and scheduling of Parks and Recreation facilities.
  4. Enrolls individuals in activities, classes, and programs; maintains database of registrations; maintains database of monies received (including sales, rentals and donations).
  5. Process reservation and activity payments received in the mail or in the drop box assuring for accuracy, timeliness and maintenance of records and registration fees.
  6. Investigate and respond to customer inquiries assuring for accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  7. Distributes promotional materials to the surrounding community, prepares group mailings.
  8. Assists the department staff in administrative planning and logistics, as needed to support activities and events.
  9. Assists with program and event set-up.
  10. Performs general housekeeping duties which include but are not limited to; sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning toilets, stocking toiletries, etc.
  11. Attends and assists with special events as needed to include night and weekend activities.
  12. Assists with recreation equipment inventory and distribution.
  13. Perform various bookkeeping functions to include daily deposits, requisitions and purchase orders.
  14. Attends training and other outside seminars as approved.
  15. Provides back up for other staff persons as needed assuring for accuracy & thoroughness.
  16. Responds to requests by immediate supervisor in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
  17. Maintains weekly and monthly calendars and schedules.
  18. Responds to comments and complaints from citizens.
  19. Updates Parks and Recreation telephone hotline to insure for accurate and timely disbursement of information.
  20. Stocks Legends lobby with brochures and program guides.
  21. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with city officials, fellow employees, other city employees and the general public.
  22. Performs all duties assuring compliance with established City Code, ordinances and policies and other applicable laws and regulations.

Other Requirements

Environment

Work is normally performed in an indoor environment, subject to noise and frequent interruptions. Work may be performed on weekends and/or evenings as scheduled.

Physical

  • Normal physical mobility: movement from place to place on the job, considering distance and speed.
  • Normal physical agility & balance: Ability to maneuver body while in place.
  • Normal physical strength to handle routine office material and tools.
  • Normal physical strength to handle 30 lb. objects, considering frequency.
  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers & normal coordination, including eye/hand, hand/foot, etc.
