Director of Global Undergraduate Programs

William Woods University is accepting applications for an Undergraduate Global Director to exercise oversight of the University’s online undergraduate degree programs.  The successful candidate will formulate and implement a plan that will enhance the overall instructional quality of the programs by providing academic and administrative support to the University and students enrolled in the programs.

The successful candidate will also maintain a teaching load commensurate with the duties of the position.  At a minimum, the successful candidate will teach two undergraduate online courses per semester in their degree field. 

Full-time faculty are expected to participate in faculty and campus committees, attend faculty assembly and School meetings, and conduct program and class assessments in accordance with standards developed by the University and outside accrediting entities.  Faculty are also expected to develop educational programs to be presented to the students enrolled in online degree programs as well as instructors teaching in those programs. 

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.  This position is eligible for remote work with approval from the Office of the Provost at the time of hiring.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

·        Oversee and direct the University’s online degree programs.

·        Collaborate with the Office of the Provost, Academic Affairs, School Deans and other campus department heads to identify, develop and implement key initiatives and programs.

·        Participate in the development of assessment and evaluation processes for undergraduate courses and degree programs for continuing improvement.

·        Supervise all activities within the programs to meet continued accreditation.

·        Complete required program assessments (annual, three-year, five year, etc.).

·        Teach related coursework at the undergraduate level and commensurate to the programs.

·        Build strong relationships with stakeholders to the programs and represent the programs within and outside the University.

·        Maintain associations with professional organizations related to the field for the purpose of professional development and employment development for graduates.

·        Assist in recruitment efforts for the programs by participating in university recruitment events and communicating with interested students.

·        Responsible for maintaining relationships with alumni of the programs.

·        Other duties as assigned.

Director of Global Undergraduate Programs Duties:

·        Oversee processes related to curriculum preparation, revisions, program reviews, curriculum change, course rotations and online course schedules.

·        Oversee the growth and expansion of online undergraduate degree program options to meet the needs of a variety of student populations.

·        Work with the Online Learning Center to ensure efficient delivery of online courses within the programs.

·        Advise faculty, other program managers and the Online Learning Center staff to design innovative and engaging courses within the programs.

·        Supervising and training of online adjunct faculty.

·        Ensure programs and associated courses remain current with industry expectations and online education practices. 

·        Regularly participate in course/program evaluation and assessment of student learning.

·        Identify faculty needs to meet the course rotation of the programs.

·        Work with the Human Resources office and Academic Schools to hire qualified faculty (qualified per course) to teach courses for which they are approved within the programs.

·        Monitor course enrollments and add additional sections of courses as needed.

·        Notify Human Resources when there is a need to recruit additional adjunct faculty. Work with Human Resources to receive applications, etc.

·        Complete faculty credential files for each adjunct faculty member, ensuring faculty are qualified to teach the courses assigned.

·        Advise the office of the Provost on all matters relating to the academic and administrative functions of the programs.

·        Offer thoughtful leadership, creativity and an experienced perspective on matters relating to sustainability and growth of the programs.

·        Offer expertise and provide direction, leadership, motivation and mentoring for all adjunct faculty and students within the programs.

·        Regularly attend adjunct faculty workshops and assist in the coordination of these events as needed.

·        Attend regular meetings as required.

Position Requirements:

·        A doctoral degree in a core discipline of the University’s undergraduate programs is preferred.

·        A master’s degree in a core discipline of the University’s undergraduate programs is required.

·        Ability to perform teaching, administrative, and clerical duties independently in order to fulfill goals and objectives of the programs within the overall mission of the University.

·        Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required.

·        Demonstrated engagement with best practices in online and adult learning.

·        Demonstrated commitment to professional development, strong work ethic and a commitment to working well with others.

·        Proficiency with various technology including word processing, PowerPoint, social media, data base programs, web-site maintenance and demonstrated experience with integrating instructional technology into classroom experiences is required.

This is a full-time, year-round position.
